Hi Guys.. (insert embarrassed emoji here)
So…… I stopped posting. Note to self: bring laptop on next trip. Anyways, sorry for leaving everyone in the dark for the rest of the trip. Nothing personal, I just got lazy. I decided I am just going to give you all an absurdly long post to summarize the rest of our time in Asia, and one more post for my trip to Australia!
Note: First two parts were already written just never uploaded.
Hiiiiiiiiiiyaaaaaa world! Helllo from Koh Phangan! Well actually hello from a boat taking us from Koh Phangan to Koh Tao. Low key one Of the more gorgeous boat rides I have ever been on.
Ok so due to laziness I am skipping most of Cambodia in order to get to the fun stuff.
Soooo after a bus, a van, a train, another bus, another van, a boat and a taxi, we arrived at the insanely awesome airBnB that Katie and Zane booked on Koh Phangan for the first stage of our island hopping. Koh Phangan is basically famous because of the legendary Full Moon Party it holds every month. However, before Full Moon we had two days of enjoying island paradise. Our apartment was steps from one of best beaches I have ever been to (also the scene of full moon at night). The sand is perrrrrfect and the water just the right temperature. We could walk out over 100 yards and still be standing waste deep. Soo imagine hundreds of young people just hanging out in the water for hours on end. As per usual in SE Asia, we drank like 3 smoothie/shake things a day. My favorites are banana, coconut (its like drinking clouds) and oreo banana.
Ok but unlike the current island we are on, we were on Koh Phangan for one reason and that was the Full Moon Party. This is the one time of the month that all 10,000 backpackers in SE Asia converge and rage their faces off on a beach until the sun rises. Fire dancers are everywhere, everyone is covered in neon body paint, people are doing a jumprope made of fire, and everyone is going insane. Pretty cool to be a part of, the scope of it is pretty incredible. Sooooo many people in one beach spread out amongst about eight adjacent mini parties. This was no doubt, one of the craziest nights of my life.
So ya… bonkers. Google it for videos and all the dirty details!
Oh my Koh Tao.
Koh Tao is one of the more gorgeous places I have ever been, and also one of the coolest. It’s heaven for divers(so while we left last night, Tim is diving today), and snorkelers. We just used snorkels and over the course of our days went to six different bays. The island is strange because it basically consisted of super wealthy divers, and low budget backpackers. So a weird combo of hostels and resorts. Our place, “The Taco Shack” was great, and unsurprisingly, had amazing tacos.
I wish I could show you the Go Pro footage we got underwater because some of it is amazing. We saw sharks, hundreds of fish, crabs, and all sorts of weird schtuff. My personal favorite was a masssssssssive turtle we saw our first day. This guy was a force. He was 100+ years old and was at least 6 ft long. He had like a whole colony of fish following him around. We got to pet his shell! (edit: here is the turtle)
On the last day, we rented a little water taxi and had the time of our lives bay hopping and blasting Snoop, see our lunch spot:
However, we were a bit late coming back and massive waves started coming in. Our driver was laughing like a maniac as our boat came closer to tipping than I thought possible. Thankfully, only two phones suffered slight water damage, and we were all fine. Definitely sketchy though.
Koh Phi Phi
Ok so Koh Tao was one of the most gorgeous place I have ever been. Koh Phi Phi might actually be THE most beautiful place myself or my Go Pro (who is super spoiled), has ever seen. (note: Havasupai Falls might be tough to beat. See our highlight vid here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ay_jHx24UWo ) . The whole island is just two bays back to back. Like so:
The town is in the middle and is awesome! It has no cars so you just walk on tiny little roads everywhere. The beach on the left is where all the boats are, while the one on the right is the bars (and the best sunset I have ever seen maybe). Plus the tides come in and you can walk way out on either side!
OK SO I JUST FINISHED THIS POST AND ACCIDENTALLY DELETED HALF OF IT. NOOOOOOOO. SAVE YOUR WORK KIDS. So here is the short version of what I already wrote.
Maya Bay is the coolest thing ever. Top left of the photo above. Stole these photos since I had only go pro and weather was garbage! Check itL
We also got to play with monkeys!! The one in the photo below jumped on our boat and stole chips and jumped into the trees shrieking:
This place should have been another paradise. We were supposed to do deep water solo rock climbing, where if you fall you fall in the water, but the weather made it impossible 😦
Should have been this:
But we did stay at an amazing party hostel (#HOSTELWORLDISGOD #REVIEWSAREEVERYTHING) with PS3s, Pub Crawls, Cool Mausoleum Style Beds, and Poncho Parties!
We also treated ourself to a SUPER nice meal ($12) where I had Crab Red Curry. NOM NOM NOM
Ben and I also climbed Tiger Temple! On the way the driver scammed us, took us to the wrong place, and threatened us with a machete until we paid.. Ouch.

Eight Hours in a van takes us to Malaysia which is the most modern looking place we visited. Super cool big city with like the best street food on earth. Seriously. It is this good:
WE ALSO WON PUB QUIZ AT OUR HOSTEL!! Liberal Arts Education validated.
So thats Asia. Super lucky to have been able to do this with some of my best friends. Thanks to everyone.
